Council Member Sue Budd began serving as the ard 3 council member in 2022. She was elected to serve a second four-year term starting in 2026. Budd has lived in St. Louis Park for more than 25 years, in the Sorenson and Cobblecrest neighborhoods.
During her first term, Budd worked to preserve St. Louis Park’s boards and commissions as advisory bodies; supported a 30-day pre-eviction ordinance; advanced the development of more than 500 affordable housing units in the city; and represented the interests of residents impacted by the 2022 watermain breaks.
Budd serves on the steering committee of the Minnesota Cities Climate Coalition and is a member of the Local Progress Minnesota. In addition to her city council duties, Budd has been active in community organizing work in St. Louis Park for many years. She has organized for climate equity, criminal justice and affordable housing. She has been an active leader with ISAIAH and a prior member of the St. Louis Park Community Housing Team. Her past volunteer efforts earned her the Corporate Women of the Year award from the National Association of Women Business Owners. She attends St. Joan of Arc Community Church and sits on the Parish Council.
Budd holds a bachelor’s degree from the Carlson School of Management and has spent her business career as a consultant in business processes. Most recently Budd has worked in the nonprofit sector doing racial justice work. In her free time, she enjoys theater, biking and the outdoors with her husband, Dave, and their family.
